:: 11th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami
Where: Colony Theater & North Beach Band Shell
Friday, June 1, 2007
Time: 12:00 PM
11th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami
June 1st - 9th, 2007

MIAMI BEACH, FL, April 2007 Ñ Inffinito Foundation has once again teamed up with the City of Miami Beach to bring the 11th annual Brazilian Film Festival of Miami to South Florida. The nine-day festival will take place in South Beach from June 1st to 9th, 2007. Tickets for the screenings at the Colony Theatre will go on sale on April 20th and can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com/venue/106597. The festival will bring together actors, directors, producers and executives from the Brazilian and American film industries and screen Brazilian productions, all previously unseen in the U.S.

After a successful 10th anniversary, the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami is back for its 11th year and hopes to build on the buzz and momentum of the previous year to increase the Brazilian cinemaÕs visibility in the U.S. and secure its spot on South FloridaÕs cultural calendar. The Festival, produced by Inffinito, is the largest competitive showing of Brazilian movies held outside of Brazil. All the films in competition are U.S. premieres. Over 20,000 attendees Ð Latins, Brazilians, Americans and tourists alike Ð are expected in the screenings at the Colony Theatre. Film screenings are at 7pm and 9 pm, with an 11pm late night screening on Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets for the screenings are $10 each. Guests can also purchase a VIP pass for $120, which includes access to all screenings, private parties, and the award ceremony on the closing night.

SCHEDULE:

June 1st: Free opening party at the North Beach Bandshell, Miami Beach.

June 2nd and 8th: Short and long features at the Colony Theatre, Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach. Never before seen in the US, all the films were finished or released in the Brazilian market between 2006 and 2007 and will now compete for top festival honors.

Ney Latorraca, is a Brazilian film legend who will receive a special tribute during the 11 th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami. A selected filmography will be screened at the Colony Theatre throughout the festival.

June 9 th: The festivalÕs closing ceremony. A jury comprised of movie industry professionals will select the yearÕs best in 11 categories, including Feature Film, Director and Screenplay. The winners will be presented with a Crystal Lens Award, a trophy designed by Brazilian sculptor Helena Bressane. An Audience Award for Best Feature Film will also be awarded to the best feature film and the best short film, as voted by the public.

June 4 - 6th: Marketplace - Although a bustling cultural event, the festival also represents an opportunity for the films to obtain American distribution. ÒThe Brazilian Film Festival of Miami is acknowledged by the Brazilian Culture Ministry as a market and business festival,Ó said Adriana Dutra, Executive Director of The Brazilian Film Festival of Miami. ÒThis is fundamental, considering that one of the eventÕs main purposes is to be a platform for the selling, distribution and screening of Brazilian films in the United States and Latin America.Ó

To attain this goal, Inffinito will hold yet again the Marketplace, a free series of panels and seminars with representatives from the international movie industry, including American studio professionals, distributors, producers, independent producers and Brazilian movie institutions. The Marketplace will be held at the Surfcomber Hotel from June 4th to the 6th.

The Brazilian Film Festival of Miami will be followed up in New York by the Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil, which takes place from August 5 th to the 12th. The New York festival will kick off with a free concert by AfroReggae at Summer Stage followed by the screening of the film ÒZuzu AngelÓ.

A complete schedule of movie screenings and events will be released shortly. For more information visit http://www.brazilianfilmfestival.com.

:: 11th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami
Where: Colony Theater & North Beach Band Shell
Friday, June 8, 2007

:: Nestor Torres Performs Benefit Concert For Kravis Center Technical Director
Where: Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach
Friday, June 22, 2007
Time: 8:00 PM
A very special benefit concert, Let There be Light with Nestor Torres. Tickets are on sale now.
Let There be Light with Nestor Torres will benefit the John Wurm Rehabilitation Fund established to assist Kravis Center Technical Director John Wurm as he strives to recover from an intracranial hemorrhage he suffered on March 1. Wurm, a 46-year-old father of three young children, slipped into a coma and has not fully regained consciousness. His recovery depends on extensive rehabilitation, which is not fully covered by insurance.
Jazz flutist and Latin Grammy Award winner Nestor Torres has generously agreed to perform at the benefit concert for Wurm, who once worked on tour as Torres' sound technician.
Torres has been captivating audiences with his sensual mix of Latin and pop sounds for more than two decades. By transforming the flute's role in the contemporary musical landscape, the remarkable virtuoso has almost single-handedly established a new genre of music. A classically trained musician, Torres has played alongside jazz giants such as Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, and Latin music icons Tito Puente and Gloria Estefan.
Tickets for Let There be Light with Nestor Torres are $20-$80 and can be purchased online at kravis.org, or by calling the Kravis Center box office at (561) 832-7469 or (800) 572-8471. Proceeds will go to the John Wurm Fund. Donations to the fund can also be made at any Bank of America location.

:: Jail & Bail- American Cancer Society of Broward County
Where: Sheraton Hotel by the Airport
Tuesday, June 26, 2007
JAIL & BAIL is a yearly event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Police volunteer their time and squad cars to "arrest" volunteer jail-birds and drive them to the Sheraton Hotel by the Airport. They are placed in a make-shift jail in the lobby and, using their rolodex/blackberry, call people to "bail them out of jail." We usually raise from $150,000 to $250,000 and would appreciate your support. The event begins on June 26 at 9am and ends at 4pm on June 29th.

Where: Sheraton Hotel by the Airport
Wednesday, June 27, 2007
JAIL & BAIL is a yearly event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Police volunteer their time and squad cars to "arrest" volunteer jail-birds and drive them to the Sheraton Hotel by the Airport. They are placed in a make-shift jail in the lobby and, using their rolodex/blackberry, call people to "bail them out of jail." We usually raise from $150,000 to $250,000 and would appreciate your support. The event begins on June 26 at 9am and ends at 4pm on June 29th.
